Granddaughter Jennifer is willed her grandmothers home upon her death. After moving in she is visited by several men who live next door. Lincoln is helping ex-cons to rehabilitate and he falls in love with Jennifer. This book is about Isaac whose a twin and stutters. He's made fun of by brothers and others. However, Mrs. Vandeberg, the market owner helps him to find help by giving him information on how to do this. Isaac falls in love with Sovilla who lives with her aunt Wilma, called the "Pickle Lady" cause she's so angry at life. Wilma has asked her to stay with her because he's to have both her hips operated on. Wilma is the sister of Sovilla's mother, Barbie whose forced to live with mean uncle Lloyd who also forced Wilma as a pregnant 17 year old to move away from Lancaster County and give up her baby boy. Come to find out Sovilla researches for Wilma's son and he wants to meet his mother and father Eli. Eli has no knowledge of what has occured to Wilma and her baby. Lloyd has lied to everyone about what he did as well as how he forced Sovilla's mother and daughters to sell their home and live with him. He treats them badly making them sleep in their basement and not be able to contact Sovilla. But Mrs Vandenberg is rich so she takes them all to get together and Wilma and Eli come back together and get to know their son. In the end Isaac is chosen to be a pastor in their amish church. He doesn't feel worthy by eveyone prays for him and he overcomes his stuttering. Ends well for everyone
