2026 Youth Summer Reading Program

Welcome to SDL's Youth Summer Reading Program!

This program is for kids ages 0-12. However you get your stories, we want to celebrate with you! Choose your favorite way of reading (listening, audiobooks, and ebooks all count too!).

It's easy to participate. Track the time you spend reading (1 minute = 1 point), even if it's listening, and earn Brag Tags for reaching reading milestones. You can also complete missions, bingo boards, and write book reviews to earn more points. And you'll get a FREE book to keep when you sign up!

And did we mention Brag Tags?! You'll get those along the way too for reading, reviewing, and completing missions and bingos.

Once you've earned 750 points, you'll receive a completion certificate you can print and share, as well as a bag of fun surprises!

Completion prizes may be picked up beginning Monday, June 15.

Once you hit 750 points, you can keep reading and logging minutes for a chance to win gift cards and more brag tags! Will you be one of the few who earn the SUPER READER badge for reading 50 hours?!

Teen Summer Reading 2026: Unearth a Story

Welcome to SDL's Teen Summer Reading Program!

However you get your stories, we want to celebrate with you!

Choose your favorite way of logging your reading: by number of books read, number of pages read, minutes read, or days of reading!

Earn prizes when you hit 100, 500, and 1000 points.

Choose the way you prefer to log: by the book, by the page, minute, hour. Your call!

Each prize point earned will get you an entry into the grand prize drawing.

We will also have weekly drawings for participants who have logged in the prior week.

Grand prize drawing will be held on August 10 for a set of BEATS headphones!

Adult Summer Reading 2026: Unearth A Story

Welcome, adults! This program is designed for adults to encourage lifelong reading habits. The rules are simple: read five books, get a prize (and yes, audiobooks and e-Books count as reading)!

Each book you read is worth 100 points, and you get a prize and an entry into the Grand Prize Drawing for every 500 points you earn.

Limit of four prizes per participant (20 books).

Want to read more than 20 books? You'll get more entries into the Grand Prize Drawing, which will take place on August 10.

You can read physical books, graphic novels, eBooks, and listen to audiobooks. Do you prefer reading short stories or magazines?

Three magazines or three short stories count as one book!

1,000 Books [PreK]

This program encourages families to read 1,000 books with their children before they enter kindergarten. For every 100 books read, the child will receive a prize book. Upon completion of 1,000 books an additional prize will be awarded. Local pick-up only for all prizes. Thank you to the Friends of the Library for supporting this program.

Adults Setting Up Children Accounts

This program is for adults that are setting up a child's 1000 Books Before Kindergarten account and not enrolled in another adult program.
